Charlbury Bowls Club marked Armed Forces Day on Saturday with a special community event held in partnership with Bowls England, raising £400 for the military children’s charity Little Troopers.
The event brought together veterans, families, and club members to recognise and celebrate the Armed Forces community. Bowls England joined the day to help showcase how inclusive and accessible bowls can be for people of all ages and abilities.
The club was also pleased to welcome Ron Spur, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, who attended in support of the event.
The day highlighted the important role sport can play in bringing communities together, reducing barriers and creating opportunities for everyone to take part.
A spokesperson for Charlbury Bowls Club said: “We are absolutely delighted to have raised £400 for Little Troopers. Armed Forces Day is an important opportunity to recognise not only serving personnel and veterans, but also the families and children who support them. We are very grateful to everyone who came along, donated, volunteered and helped make the day such a success.”.
Charlbury Bowls Club would like to thank Bowls England, Ron Spur, all volunteers, players, visitors and everyone who donated on the day.
